I marked yesterday as the first "real" day of training on the comeback trail and served as 45 min in the AM and 50 min in the PM. Im going to bounce back very quickly and possibly even target the bolder boulder as a first road race of the year. There has been som discussion about the dynamic of the team who who would be on it. So far I have heard the USA team is going to comprise of 3 CU alumni which would mean your good friend Carney would be left on the sidelines or on team CO despite a nice showing in the 2009 edition of the Bolder Bolder. Im left Rotterdam with some positives but also left me wanting much more and fired up for the summer season.
Today was a nice day for athletics including a morning track session where half the town was at the track to workout. Brent Vaughn was doing his last workout before the Cardinal 10k which included a 5mi progresson working down from 5:50 pace down to 5:00 pace. I jumped into this workout and handled it very easily. I was pleasantly surprised since I just completed a marathon 2 weeks ago. Tonight was just an easy 30 min shakeout run followed by a shot of whiskey with the neighbor. Today, I toyed with the idea of catching a flight out to the bay area to take in the Cardninal athletics meeting . I love the sport of track and field so much that i find it hard to just sit back and watch the meet from a far.

I have a question that I am hoping maybe you can give me a quick answer to. What percentage of a workout do you generally devote to stretching? I know it's different for everyone but I am really working hard on toning and am losing weight quickly. I seem to be getting stiff a lot and was thinking that maybe it is not enough stretching. I am hoping to be able to start running by the end of summer. |

Enjoying the blogging pal - keep up the good work. Saw you in the This Is My Run video on NB website - assuming you're the voiceover or one of the voices? Somebody got me Meb's bib (facsimile maybe) from NYC '09 autographed with his winning time, etc. at an auction - AYK he ran away from the Boston champ in Central Park at the end. Speaking of NYC - what about that one? Do you have a schedule in mind or it's coming to you as time passes? Keep that first Saturday in February sacred, there's this small town in NWF.... |
